Meet Howard

In 2009, my wife Keeley and I arrived in Burlingame, two young professionals with two daughters still in diapers and another soon on the way.

When our moving truck arrived in Easton Addition, we had high hopes for good schools and safe streets — a sense of place similar to where each of us grew up. We wanted a community that did not feel like a stereotypical suburb, but instead have the cohesion and connection of a small town. A great place to build a family. A great place to take our shot at the American Dream.

But what we found exceeded all expectations. We soon laid down roots, going from renters to homeowners. And we watched our three daughters thrive and flourish — from little kids riding their bikes down our street with training wheels to shooting hoops, playing tennis and softball at Ray Park, growing into three young, bright women ready to make a difference.

All three of our daughters attended Lincoln Elementary and Burlingame Intermediate School (BIS).  Our oldest daughter Stella now attends Johns Hopkins. Josie is a rising senior at BHS and editor-in-chief of the Burlingame B and Charlotte is a rising junior at BHS, where she works on the yearbook and played JV volleyball.

Burlingame hasn’t just given us a sense of place. It’s given us a sense of purpose. And that’s meant giving back — starting with our kids.

Keeley coached soccer, softball, and volleyball. I coached softball and basketball, and served as a parent representative on the School Advisory Committee at BHS from 2024-2026. We both volunteered with the schools, and I was honored to receive the H. Jay Burns Award for Public Service in 2024.

It’s also meant serving on Burlingame committees and commissions. I served over nine years on the Traffic Safety and Parking Commission, six years on the Burlingame Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and I’m currently serving my fifth year on the Parks and Recreation Committee (currently Vice-Chair) and my 15th year on the Bond Oversight Committee of the Burlingame School District (chair since 2019).

I’ve spent years working on the issues that shape day-to-day life in Burlingame — from traffic safety and parks to financial oversight and community planning.

Along the way, I’ve applied the insights and experiences I’ve earned through more than twenty-five years as an experienced attorney and executive, and now manage a small law practice here in Burlingame.

Whether in the public or private sectors, I’ve centered my work around practical problem-solving, accountability, managing risk, and long-term planning. That’s the kind of commitment I will bring to service on the Burlingame City Council: pragmatic solutions, responsible and independent decision-making, and real-world results… all to strengthen our neighborhoods and quality of life. So that we all can continue to enjoy and flourish in this town where Keeley and I built our family — and found our dreams — seventeen years ago.
